OUR SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGIES

To remain afloat, achieve our plans & mission and outlive external resourcing, we have creatively devised 10 SMART Sustainability strategies where:

where members have a democratic control, where members contribute capital equitably, members have autonomy & independence in decision making, and members have community concerns to sustainably develop their community. This grows ownership and the cooperative shall outlive its members and future generations will take over and sustain the outcomes and impact

We have designed multipurpose Agri-Based value chains where members undertake Agri enterprises that are interdependent. This way, one Enterprise provides market for the other. The interdependence ranges from but not limited to farming feed mill raw materials, running a cooperative run and managed feed mill, rearing chicken, running village- based Agrovets, Pig farming, household’s biogas installation, vegetable farming and village- based grocery outlets

Members subscribe to the cooperative with $20 registration fees, Pay monthly indivisible-share-capital of $5 and an annual cooperative activation fee of $100 where members have democratic control of such capital that is indivisible but benefits all members equally.

Member households will have the Equal opportunity to install & use biogas digesters as alternative energy sources to firewood & charcoal that adversely contributes to deforestation. This way we minimize environmental impact & guarantee future generations a future

Use of chemical to control pests and diseases for hybrid crops not only expose consumers to carcinogenic concentrated foods but also affects the biodiversity by killing useful soil organisms.

Contracting cooperative member farmers to produce for and centrally market the produce that will secure stable market and controlled pricing, and consistent supply addressing market risks of exploitation by middlemen and unstable price fluctuations. The cooperative will establish contracts with local buyers and retailers to secure a stable market for members’ produce.

Value addition to manage post-harvest losses and diversify revenues that will guarantee maximum returns.

where raw materials are supplied by contracted cooperative members, and members rearing livestock will have available, accessible, affordable, quality feeds and surplus sold to the general market for additional cooperative income whose reserves will guarantee maximum returns.

Running own chicken breeding couple, hatchery & brooder to ensure availability, accessibility, affordability and quality of chicks supplied to cooperative members.

Provision of extension services, education & training to ensure transfer of technology, management skills, attitudes, knowledge and skills to cooperative members.
